Show Highlights

There were 3 special exhibits. The first featured the "Good 2007 QBTS Raffle QuiltShepherd Ministries Quilt of Hope". The center of the quilt replicated the center's new logo. Signature blocks surrounded the logo and provided a place for words of encouragement and hope. Good Shepherd was established in 1983 as a soup kitchen. Today they are the largest provider of homeless service in the region. Their mission is to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and foster transition of those in crisis to independence in the community. Proceeds from the Quilt of Hope were donated to the Good Shepherd Ministries along with the quilt which hangs in the center as a symbol of hope.

The second special exhibit, "Silver Threads" Challenge Quilts displayed the results of a recent challenge to Quilters by the Sea members on what 25 years of quilting means to them.

The third special exhibit is a collection of notable quilts from the past 24 years of quilts shows.

This year's raffle queen size quilt featured an appliqué medallion surrounded by an array of blue and white patchwork blocks. The quilt was created by members of the Material Girls Quilting Bee: Eileen Ballance, Doris Briley, Sara Cates, Betty Downey, Maggie Earley, Jan Jacobson, Anne Hope Marvin, Maggie McCormick, Cheryl Wray and machine quilted by Irene Chandler.
