Programs

We had a fun time hosting a Rag Quilt Workshop for youngsters at the Arboretum in February. The ten girls in class were excited to have a quilt of their own to take home. Anne Watson led the class, with help from Ann Millard, Gerry Milhoulides, Jan Jacobson, and Mary Anne Kotas. And the Arboretum was so grateful, they are letting us have more of our own workshops in their auditorium, which is a great workspace. Anne will be helping them out with more classes for kids this summer; consider helping her out when she asks for volunteers. Thank you to everyone that donated materials for the workshop.

We also had a "Quilt-In" to celebrate National Quilting Day on March 17. We spent the day at First Christian Church for a day of quilting and socializing. There was a fat quarter raffle (green ones in honor of St Patrick's Day) and a pot luck lunch. It was a good time to work on UFO's and quilts for one of our community outreach programs.

Gwen Marston is coming soon! She will be teaching "String Quilts" on Saturday, April 21 at First Christian Church and "Liberated Stars" on Monday, April 23 at New Hanover Arboretum. There are only a few openings in each class. Contact Mary Anne Kotas soon if you'd like to sign up. If you think you might be interested but aren't sure, she will be glad to keep your name on a waiting list and check back with you later if there are still openings. The class will be opened to non-guild members if it does not fill up.
